Khan Market-25th November 2015

Finally, here are a few pictures from our trip to Khan Market. It was a beautiful day, teeming withpeople, lights and colour. It dazzled with energy, little stories sprouted here and there ; and yet time was too short to do everything on that lovely day!

The Sketchers series I - Vikram Kumar

When not sketching, Vikram Kumar is busy being the graphic designer at Pardes Weekly. If that’s not all, he is also a social worker and founder member of the Care Village Foundation (CVF). As a self-taught artist himself, he sees art as “ a rejuvenating elixir” and his love for nature are best depicted in his paintings.

Where it all started- The idea of a sketching club

I often toyed with the idea of having a sketching club where we could go once a week to a location- monument, market , anything to sketch the world around us in our little books and use them later for our work. The idea was to engage in creative pursuits and enjoy the beautiful places of the city. Luckily, a few friends were interested and the club was born. We did two outings before the 18th November trip. One was at National Gallery of Modern Art, Jaipur House on 5th November and the other at Dilli Haat on 11th November 2015. I will be adding the pictures as I update the blog along the way.

So, if you are interested in joining us for the weekly trips, do email me at shantalap@yahoo.com. The more the merrier!

Tryst with Purana Qila, Delhi- 18th November 2015

It was a lovely day at the Purana Qila. The sun was gentle and warm. And unexpectedly, couples arrived in large numbers. Nevertheless, we bravely battled stares and comments from a few weirdos as we concentrated on sketching the Bara Darwaza or the West/Main entrance to the old fort. We spent about forty-forty five minutes sketching before we entered the grounds after showing our tickets. The Qila Kuhna Masjid beckoned to us and the party split in two directions. Some went to sketch the Kunti Devi Temple while others stopped at the mosque. Time flew by and we soon felt hungry. After lunch, we were the busy sketchers once more. We again split up in different directions to sketch sites that caught our fancy most and by 4 pm , we decided to call it a day. Here are a few pictures from the sketchers-:
